VFX Artist (9-month contract)

<p> </p><p><strong>Blackbird Interactive</strong> is seeking a passionate <strong>VFX Artist</strong> to join our team and continue developing a <strong>AAA Sci-fi action </strong>title. </p> <p>In this position, you’ll be working under the supervision of an <strong>Art Director </strong>and <strong>Character</strong> <strong>Art Lead </strong>to develop eye-catching VFX for the game that fits within the IP’s Sci-fi aesthetics. You’ll collaborate closely with art leadership and cross-disciplinary teams to ensure that VFX assets are performant, readable and visually appealing.</p> Please include a link to your <strong>showreel</strong> with your CV. <p></p> <p></p><p><br></p><b>Responsibilities</b><div> <ul> <li> <p>Create and develop high quality, real-time VFX using a proprietary game engine.</p> </li> <li> <p>Work with the Creative Leads to author immersive VFX for exciting new features in an existing IP.</p> </li> <li> <p>Collaborate with tech art and programming to problem-solve and meet in-engine visual and performance targets.</p> </li> <li> <p>Be comfortable owning your pipeline from asset creation to in-engine implementation; while collaborating effectively with multiple disciplines in the team.</p> </li> <li> <p>You will take ownership of all VFX-related tasks, work independently with minimal supervision, and communicate deliverable updates effectively.</p> </li> <li> <p>Employ creative re-use of existing VFX assets such as textures and materials to create new assets from expansive libraries.</p> </li> </ul> </div><p><br></p><b>Requirements</b><div> <ul> <li> <p>4 years of proven experience in developing VFX for games.</p> </li> <li> <p>Strong understanding of 3D Softwares such as Maya/3ds-Max/Blender; as well as 2D softwares such as Photoshop, Substance Painter and Substance Designer.</p> </li> <li> <p>Solid grasp of timing and shape for VFX.</p> </li> <li> <p>Strong proficiency in developing shaders and materials for real-time visual effects.</p> </li> <li> <p>Experience with dynamic FX scaling and variable integration at runtime.</p> </li> <li> <p>Proficiency in the optimization techniques of visual effects.</p> </li> <li> <p>Excellent communication and presentation skills.</p> </li> </ul> </div><p><br></p><b>Pluses</b><div> <ul> <li> <p>AAA Game experience</p> </li> <li> <p>Familiarity with Embergen</p> </li> <li> <p>Coding and scripting knowledge</p> </li> <li> <p>Passion for sci-fi games and/or any media</p> </li> <li> <p>Experience working on existing IP and their assets</p> </li> </ul> </div><p><br></p><p></p> <div>$80,000 - $90,000 a year</div>
